It's been a while since my last entry, so I wanted to post and give you all a bit of an update as to what has been happening in the group recently.

:thumb372314990: First of all, I would like to announce that Synfull has come on as Co-Founder of the group.  Karen asked me a few months ago if I would be interested in having some help approving submissions and with general upkeep.  As I have been trying to get my groups in order lately, I recently took her up on her offer. Not only has she helped me, but she has done some amazing stuff getting things in order. She's given the gallery a bit of a scrub, as well as making the front page all pretty. With her help, we have made some changes to the submission rules and group in general, which we hope will keep things moving and help us grow.  To that end, here's some of the new stuff you'll see around Emoticon-Stamps:

:bulletgreen: The main goal of the group has always been simplicity. It can be frustrating when a group has too many folders and categories and it's unclear where a submission belongs. With that in mind, we have kept our minimal folder structure. However, we have added on additional folder: fan-art.  This new folder is for stamps that showcase emoticon versions of movie, game, tv, and other well-known characters.  Our other folders remain the same: General, Quotes, and Support.

:bulletgreen:  To help ease some confusion and avoid accepting stamps that don't fit the group's theme, all new submissions will require 1 vote to be posted to the group. The Featured folder is the only submission folder. Once a stamp is approved it will be moved into the proper category by a staff member.  This might change in the future, but for now we feel this is the best way to keep the group tidy.

:bulletgreen: Since there always seems to be some confusion about what kind of stamps belong in the group, Synfull was kind enough to work up a submission list for the front page, with examples.  If you are ever in question as to if your stamp qualifies for inclusion in the group, take a look at the submission widget.  Of course, if you still have questions, you can note the group at any time.

:bulletgreen: Lastly, we have a new submission rule which might be a bit controversial, but we feel it will be best for the group and the emoticon community in general.  We will no longer accept emoticon stamps created with emoticons where the stamp-creator does not have formal permission to use the emote (this is in addition to crediting the original emoticon creator).  This rule includes the use of legend emotes.  While many people feel it's fair game to use these emotes, we feel that it promotes an attitude that using any-emote is okay, as long as credit is given.  That's not the case.  Note that if the emoticon is available under a Creative Commons license, that fact should be included in the stamp description and will be viewed as acceptable "permission."  Of course, if anyone has any questions or problems with this rule, kindly note us and we will be happy to discuss the issue with you.

:thumb244117321: Again, I would like to give a huge shout-out and thank-you to Synfull for her help in getting things together.  Our hope is that this group will grow and be a premier showcase for the wonderful emoticon stamps of deviantART.
As life has been crazy, I'm trying to get my groups back on track.  I know that stamps are expiring due to lack of approval from admins. To help avoid this, we will remain a member-only submit group.  However, stamps will now be submitted to the "Submission" folder and automatically approved. Admins will then move them to the proper folder.

Of course, if a stamp does not contain an emoticon, it will be removed from the group.  A member will be warned twice if this occurs.  If it happens three time, they will be suspended from the group.  Hopefully, this won't be necessary.

Thanks to everyone for supporting the group.  We hope to have a contest coming up soon!
I shall not comment on the group's deactivation before.  Will just note there was good reasons for it, many which I don't care to share.  Just know, we're back and not going anywhere. So, send in your submissions. :D
